Charles Dexter Ward’s wife hires a private investigator to discover what her husband has been up to at a cabin that he had owned for generations. His husband, Charles Dexter Ward is a chemical engineer. The smells of his experiments and delivery of human remains every hour are starting to attract the attention of local police officers and neighbors. The wife and detective discover a diary from the husband's 1771 ancestor. Reports of horrific murders begin to emerge in the neighborhood.
