Lucy Hutton, Joshua Templeman and their co-CEOs at a publishing house sit side-by-side every day. They hate one another. Not dislike. Do not begrudge. Lucy is unable to understand Josh's stoic, rigid approach to his job, or refusal to smile. This contrasts with her vibrant clothes and quirkiness and gracious people-pleasing. They've been trapped in a shared office for five days each week and have become entangled in an endless, addictive game of one-upmanship. Lucy is determined to beat Josh at everything, especially with a new promotion as Managing Director. The two of them agree to a contract that anyone who does not receive the promotion will be fired. The game is on - Lucy starts to see the fine line between love and hatred as tensions rise and an innocent elevator ride becomes a passionate kiss.
