1864 Federal troops (the "Yanks") seize control of Atlanta after a major battle and brutal shelling. They plan to take all the products from Atlanta's warehouse district and use them to equip their army for the March to the Sea. This will bring an end to the War Between the States. Confederate spy Yanks disguised in Yanks enter the warehouse district to check out what might still be useful to the army to the north. There is a lot. Confederate Command orders the burning of the whole district. This destroys large quantities of goods, and leads to the displacement of hundreds of families who have lived in this area for many decades. The story of "The Burning of Atlanta" tells the tale of how a large city is destroyed just before the end of World War II and what terror it causes to the people who live there.
