Sara Goldfarb, also known as Ellen Burstyn (Ellen Burstyn), is a widow who lives in an apartment. Watching TV is her favorite pastime, particularly a self-help program. It is her dream to be a guest on the show and get out of her dull life. Harry, her son (Jared Leto), is a junkie. However, he and Tyrone (Marlon Wegans) have visions of becoming drug dealers. Harry's girlfriend Marion, played by Jennifer Connelly, could become a fashion designer or an artist. However she is easily swept up in Harry's drug-centric world. Sara develops an addictive disorder of her own. Sara desperately needs to lose weight so she embarks on a crash program that involves popping pills. These pills turn out to be addictive and very harmful for her mental health. --grantss
