It is the year 1899 and Christian, an English young writer, arrives in Paris to witness the Bohemian Revolution taking control of Paris' prostitute-infested and drug-addled streets. The Moulin Rouge is a club that entertains both the wealthy and the poor. But things turn sour for Christian when he begins a dangerous love affair with Satine, the star dancer. The club patron, the Duke, also desires her affections. As Christian and Satine try to keep their relationship together, a dangerous love triangle develops. But Christian's love for Christian is not enough to stop him from falling in love with Christian.
