The story is set in 1930s England and takes place at a country house. Weekend shooting parties are underway. The McCordle clan, and especially Sir William McCordle (Sir Michael Gambon), are the focus of the story. William, who is now in his late thirties, has been a generous benefactor for many of his family and friends. Secrets are being revealed and everyone wants William's money.
